Whatsapp Funnels — 30% Increase in Conversions — Tips & Tactics
Nowadays, a lot of information products ( i.e. paid courses, conferences) are sold via Whatsapp groups.
This increases their conversions and reduces friction in decision making.
I was running a training platform (ReFier) in 2019 and have built Whatsapp Funnels to acquire customers and sell programs.
Whatsapp funnel that we have used…
Group for all interested folks (Free Group) → Group for Paid Members (Paid Group)
We started with a free group of interested folks, who are then funneled into a group for paid members.
The group purpose was to get the folks interested in the group with as little friction as possible to give them access to our free content and material for decision on the paid course.
Another group for paid members marked as ‘Exclusive’ was built for members who paid for the program. The purpose was to engage and retain them.
Looks easy? It was not.
Here are some of the bottlenecks that stopped us from using whatsapp funnel to its full potential-
- People active in the free group always have more chances of being converted to paid members.
However, it was difficult to identify who has been active in the group and the count of messages they have read. - We were unable to identify who had gone dormant in the paid group.
Thus, at scale, we were unable to personally reactivate them. - We were unable to send 1:1 messages to group members.
Thus, we couldn’t build personal rapport, and multi touch communication to convert them. - It was difficult to personally follow up with everyone who has reacted to or even replied to certain offer posts, promotional posts and queries.
We would have converted at least 20% more.
That’s when I decided to solve the problem through Whatlist and remove these limitations with Whatsapp funnels.
Here is how Whatlist helps with improved conversion outcomes (at least 30%):
- Now, I can see who is active in the Free Group I.e. who has read 50%, 70%, 90% messages and personally message them. All in a click.
- I can see who has gone dormant in a paid group. Choose them all together and send them a personal message.
- I can drop 1:1 messages to all new members. Asking them to save my number, so that they would remember anytime I drop them a message.
- I can choose posts and send messages to everyone who has reacted or replied to those posts. This will help with increased engagements in the groups. And finally conversions. Because members will feel good being personally taken care of.
- I can see who is not active in the paid group. Send them a personal 1:1 message (through broadcast) with a click and re-activate them.
It is certainly interesting to see how WhatsApp funnel optimizations and increased visibility will help drive conversions.
